Ms. Paulsen's Important Information
I believe school should be a positive environment where each child feels loved and successful. Children should enjoy school and spend time here. Every student should try his/her best and be proud of what he/she is learning each day. Learning should be fun!
I hold my students to high expectations, and I know they are capable of meeting these. If students are not following rules or meeting the behavior that is expected, there will be a natural consequence. In special or severe circumstances, parents and/or an administrator will be contacted. To be successful, we need to work together!
Attendance
Attendance is crucial to your child’s learning and success in our class. I strongly encourage your student to be in class, on time, every day. We start our learning right at 8:30, I don’t want your child to miss out on anything we are doing. Due to the ever-changing pace of the students, it is difficult to determine exactly what will be covered and to what extent on a specific day. We do a lot of hands-on lessons and activities that cannot be easily made up. In the event of an absence, I would like the student to read each day and practice basic math facts. The remainder of the work will be caught up in class. If he/she misses any sort of test, it will be made up upon his/her return. Book Talks may be turned in or presented before or after the absence. If you know in advance of your child’s absence, please let me know.
Toys
CRA does not allow toys at school of any kind. We want kids playing and being active at recess and learning in class. Toys, cards, and games are to be left at home.
Birthdays
We love Birthdays! We will celebrate in class. You do not need to do anything for your child’s birthday at school. I know you already have a lot going on at home. Please don’t send treats, invitations, gifts, or, anything for your child’s birthday. We will make your child feel very special on their special day. Summer birthdays will be celebrated at the end of May.
Please do not send students with birthday party invitations to distribute at school.
Student of the Week
We are a community here in our class and we want everyone to have a chance to be a special helper. Each week one student will be our Fearless Leader. They will get to make a poster at home and hang it in class all week. They will get to bring something from home to show the class. They will get to lead our class in many activities.
A note will come home with your child the Friday before they are the Fearless Leader to remind you to help them make a poster.
